The Gospel Choir at United Christian Parish of Reston

The Gospel Choir at United Christian Parish (UCP) of Reston invites SLHS Choral students who might be interested in gospel music, to consider singing with them this year. 

Although they call themselves a gospel choir, they also sing Negro Spirituals, liturgical jazz and praise songs. The group typically rehearses from 6-7 p.m. each Wednesday in the church choir room.

In addition, they lead the music portion of the worship services roughly one Sunday every other month, alternating with several other music groups at their church. Thus, this gives their group plenty of time to learn and perfect new music.

The UCP Gospel Choir is an all-volunteer group of currently about 20 voices. While the UCP only offers one 10 a.m. service during sumer, it offers two Sunday worship services: 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m the rest of the year. 

The singers in their choir range from professional to novice, and they welcome anyone who wants to sing. There are also opportunities for musicians who would like to strengthen their skills by solo singing and guest conducting.
