Senior Choir Auditions

I hope you are enjoying your last days of vacation!

Please download the newly released information about Senior Honors Choir Auditions for this year.

Senior Honors Choir is a Virginia Music Educators Association Honors Choir. It is one of the most elite choir you can be a part of in your high school career. The choir is only open to 12th grade students enrolled in choral programs throughout the State of VA.

Please read the information carefully and learn your audition piece now. The state requires me to do pre-screenings for the audition. The deadline for the audition registration is September 11th. This means, I will be hearing pre-screenings and collecting your forms and fees on Monday, September 9th.

This year the audition is on October 5. Yes, it is an SAT day.  (Every year the audition date seems to fall either over homecoming weekends and/or SATs.) There is nothing we can do about this conflict, as this is a state mandated date; but you can request a time that conveniences you so that you can take the SAT and still audition.

The audition is at Longwood University (it is a 3 hour drive each way). If you are taking the SAT, we should request an audition time somewhere between 5 and 7 PM.

I recommend that you work on the audition piece with a private voice teacher. I am also happy to work on it with you during the first week of school by appointment, but this should not be the first time you review it. Take time to listen and sing through it now.

If you are planning to pursue Music as a Major or Minor at the University level, this is a great live audition experience for you to warm up with.

Senior Honors Choir has proven to be an extremely enriching musical experience and I have seen it be a life changing moment with many of my former students.

Contact me with any further questions.
