Virtual Song-Writing Workshop for HS Students – Sat, 11/7

Parents for Choral Arts (PCA) and the Oakton Chorus Boosters are co-sponsoring a virtual Song Writing Workshop for high school students with experts Jeremy Ragsdale & Harrison de Wolfe.

There is a cap of 200 students for this workshop and we are advertising it across 4 counties!  So, Do NOT DELAY securing your spot!

Virtual Broadway Night: Screen & Stage

The Kickoff/Reveal virtual meeting for HS students
  • When: This Thursday, 10/29 at 8pm.
  • Who: All students that have submitted a BWN audition and/or a BWN leadership application form
  • What: Google Meet logistics will be sent to you separately

The Elementary School/ Middle School meeting will take place earlier that same evening.

 

Registrations Due this Saturday, 10/31
  • If you have submitted an audition, please be sure to complete the registration process NOW or by 10/31
  • Register here.

 

Virtual Rehearsals begin in November
  • Attendance is required
  • Rehearsal Schedule and Any Changes to it:
    • WATCH OUT FOR COMMUNICATIONS: emails, Notations, etc.

Parent Volunteers Needed
  • We need ALL PARENTS of the students who are part of the show.
  • If you are interested in playing a volunteer leadership role, please email broadwaynight@southlakeschorus.org ASAP.

The Co-chairs for this year’s Broadway Night are parents of current Seniors and are looking for parents of younger students to take on more of a leadership role this year in order to transition more smoothly into a chair position for next year.

More Ways to Support the Choral Program

We are looking for a few parent volunteers to support Mrs. Gigliotti and the Chairs.  And our most urgent needs are for:

  • Social Media Manager (post on our SM weekly)
  • Grant Writer: Assist with writing requests for funding from various sources
  • Friends & Family Letter Campaign: Guide students through campaign to write (email/snail mail) to their friends and family requesting donations in Nov/Dec.
  • Restaurant Night Coordinator: Contact local restaurants to set up dates for fundraising where we get a portion of sales for specific nights.

  • Required for All SLHS Students
  • So that your child can use the technology resources we have for instruction
  • Complete and Submit online

Emergency Care Form: PDF Fillable Form

  • Complete/Print/Sign and
    • Send 1 copy to the School (Required for ALL SLHS Students)
    • Scan/Email 1 copy to mosprague@fcps.edu (Required for ALL Chorus Students for Chorus Dept. Use)

Consent to Share/Free-Reduced Lunch Application:

    • For students receiving Free/Reduced Fee Lunch
    • Complete/Print/Sign and Send it to the School

Opt-Out Form: The 2020-2021 Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms

  • This will be important to our virtual performances since they will be shared on the web
  • All SLHS students & their parents/guardians should review the Information Booklet
    • Scroll down to the 9-12 Forms Section.
      • The information booklet and Opt-Out Forms are available in 8 different languages.
    • Read the booklet.
    • If you object to your child’s participation in any or all of the activities listed,
      • Complete/Print/Sign and Return the appropriate Opt-Out Form(s) to the School.
