Urgent Need for 2 more Awards Night Co-Chairs

Spring Chorus Awards Night will be on Tuesday, 5/28.

Awards Night Co-Chairs will assist Heather Wellman, the event Chair, with preparation and running of the event, and we still need 2 more volunteers to co-chair.

The Awards Night Chair and Co-Chairs are responsible for Food, Decorations, Gifts and Communication with the students and the Choral Directors, which they will “divide and conquer”! In addition, they will be hosting the event and help present the awards on May 28.

We need to get the preparation started right away.  Therefore, if you are able to co-chair the Awards Night, please email Mitsuyo Sprague at mosprague@fcps.edu ASAP.

Get Involved! – PCA Openings for Fall 2019

We are currently looking for a new Treasurer and a new Membership Chair for the next school year:

  • Treasurer: The role requires basic bookkeeping skills, and our outgoing Treasurer will provide training.
  • Membership Chair: We seek someone who is organized, detail-oriented and has excellent communication skills. Also, the outgoing Chair will assist with the transition.

If interested, please email Susan Sather at slsather@gmail.com ASAP.

Senior Recital – Monday, May 13 at 7 pm, Little Theatre

Audition: after school on Tuesday, May 07, 2019 (Sign-up no longer available) You must perform your selection (with or without accompaniment) for music faculty members.

Since this is a solo recital, not a talent show, selections must be appropriate to the event.  Therefore, the directors will exercise the right to refuse a student performance that is either inappropriate or under-rehearsed.

Enrichment Opportunities:

ACDA NextDirection choral leadership conferences

The Next Direction Choral Leadership Conference is an opportunity for choral students to explore what it means to be a choral conductor and a music educator. Built on a program developed and honed by the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association, 2018 was the first time American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) offered the experience to students across the country.

And this year, Virginia ACDA is launching an east-coast option, so that more students will be able to participate because the conference is now offered in two locations at two different times.

The cost for the entire 4-day/3-night conference is $350 (tuition, materials, room, board).  Several states are offering full scholarships to either conference.  More information on that here:  ACDA NextDirection
